What Not To Expect As A Writer

I used to think that by the time I was the age I am now, I’d be a famous, best-selling author.

This is ridiculous for several reasons.

First, I’m only nineteen.

I’m glad my younger self had such big dreams, but I don’t know how realistic they were.

Second, this may still be my goal, but it just isn’t practical, especially not right now. And that’s okay.

The problem here is that I expected too much, too quickly.

So, let’s talk about what NOT to expect when you’re a writer.

1. Ideas to Flow Freely

It’s true that some days you can get on a writing kick and have plenty of ideas roaming about in your head, finding their way to the page, but this isn’t always going to be the case.

You will have more days than you would like where you can’t think of anything, where you don’t have any good ideas, or where nothing you have thought of seems to be working.

I think we just about all know that feeling.

And it isn’t fun. But what can we do with that?
