I Wrote 210k Words In a Year. Here’s How You Can Do the Same

In 2023, I wrote three novels back to back (to back) and had the time of my life.

Here’s how I did it.

1. Find the Energy

I wrote around 70k words per book, and while this is average for a novel — it’s no small feat.

Find where you have plenty — or at least a decent amount — of energy, and decide how you can fit writing into that space.

Are you particularly pumped up after a workout? Keep your gym clothes on and write before getting out of the groove.

Are you a morning person? I am. Wake up before you need to and spend the first moments of your day writing.

Pinpoint where you hold some energy, and sit down to write.

2. Find the Time

Tougher, but doable.

It’s the same concept as finding the energy — pinpoint where you have free time in the day, whether it’s a few minutes or a few hours.

Even ten minutes of writing will get you closer to your goal than sitting and wondering when you’ll have a huge chunk of time to write instead of actually writing.
