6 Pieces of Stupid, Simple Advice that Changed My Life
A collection of micro-habits that actually work.
As much as I loathe saying it, generic, simple, “easy for you to say!” advice is helpful.
Not all of it, since we should all really be living by the “take what works and leave the rest” rule.
But some advice has changed my life.
Let’s get into it.
1 — GLAD.
Many of us have and use gratitude journals.
Gratitude genuinely helps you appreciate life more and can lead to an uptick in all of us saying, Maybe everything isn’t that bad after all.
Even with gratitude journaling working well in this regard, I’ve found that a specific type of gratitude journaling works best.
GLAD stands for Grateful, Learned, Accomplished, and Delight.
You start with Grateful: What are you grateful for today? You can list one thing, a hundred things, a whole novel — you get the idea.
My personal favorite comes next: Learned. What did you learn today? It can be as simple as, “I learned that I can get out of bed without scrolling through my phone first.” Or as complex as, “I learned how to make my own canned goods from scratch.”
